entertaining tips

I seem to have written my share of articles lately and they are all about giving quick tips...the how tos of throwing a party...make it easy and make it simple is my motto but most of all, plan in advance. Plan a simple menu (easy dishes you are used to or order in), plan simple decor (walk around your house and find the every day objects like candles and different glassware that can turn your tabletop into something extraordinary), plan simple drinks (go to www.bartender.com for new drinks or go to your local liquor store for advice on the latest), plan simple entertainment (pipe in your own music, buy lots of confetti for New Year's Eve or order an off beat movie to watch with old friends or bring in some live local musicians who are tryng to make it big but are still cheep).

Plan plan plan...simple simple simple!

good luck and happy new year.

Entertaining Holiday parties

OK, so there are about a thousand holiday parties going on right now...what will make them stand out...how does any party stand on its own legs so that the attendee walks away feeling good and still remembers the party? Planning and lots of smiles from the hosts usually does the trick.

Had a client who threw a special family event. She planned the whole thing herself but when the end was in sight, she called White Linen Events http://www.whitelinen-events.com to help her through the final details. Do we need coat check tags? What time does the DJ arrive? How do we move the guests through the space so they get to the other room gracefully. I spent time with the client on the phone and went through every detail, took the final details to my staff who then went to the venue to organize the vendors and usher in the guests when they arrived. The client was very happy because she was able to rely on us and because she was happy, her guests were happy and so the event was pulled off with grace and wit!
